This is a well-detailed and well-explained guide on how to build an entryway hall stand with a lidded storage bench. I will take you through the build step-by-step.

The lidded bench:
Length: 35" (890 mm) x Width: 16-1/2" (419 mm) x Height: 21-1/2" (547 mm).
With the hall stand:
Length: 35" (890 mm) x Width: 16-1/2" (419 mm) x Height: 70-3/4" (1797 mm)
This is a compact unit with a lot of practical functionality.
The box area is only 11" (280 mm) deep to avoid clusters, so shoes cannot be hidden under layers of other shoes. And, on the hall stand, there are places to hang coats, scarves, hats, and umbrellas.
Material requirements
Below is a list of all the materials required to construct the lidded bench and the hall stand.
I have given the total amounts required and allowed for waste.
There is a cutting lists that gives all the individual lengths.
Total wood required
3/4" x 3-1/2" (19 x 89 mm) wood. In total you will need 38.5 ft (11.7 m)
3/4" x 1-1/2" (19 x 38 mm) wood. In total you will need 27 ft (8.2 m)
1-1/2" x 1-1/2" (38 x 38 mm) wood. In total you will need 27 ft (8.2 m)
3/8" x 1-1/4" (10 x 30 mm) wood. In total you will need 16 ft (4.9 m)
3/4" x 3/4" (19 x 19 mm) wood. In total you will need 30" (760 mm)
1/2" x 1/2" (12 mm x 12 mm) wood. In total you will need 16 ft (4.9 m)
1/4" (7 mm) plywood
2 pieces at 8-1/2" (216 mm) x 12-3/4" (324 mm)
2 pieces at 8-1/2" (216 mm) x 34-1/4" (870 mm)
1 piece at 16" (406 mm) x 46-1/2" (1181 mm)
Note: All the plywood pieces can be cut from half a standard-size sheet, i.e., 4 ft x 4 ft (1200 mm x 1200 mm)
Fixings
Wood screws:
50 at 5/8" (16 mm) long.
6 at 1" (25 mm) long.
36 at 1-1/4" (32 mm) long.
32 at 1-3/4" (45 mm) long.
30 at 2" (50 mm) long.
4 at 2-1/2" (63 mm) long.
12 at 3" (75 mm) long.
Nails:
140 at 1" (25 mm)
Hinges:
2 of 2-1/2" (65 mm) flush butt hinges and screws.
And of course, you will need some wood glue.
