Description
These downloadable plans include instructions and plans for constructing a modular batten-top table with matching seats. The table measures 6 ft. by 3 ft. (1800mm by 900mm). All measurements are provided in both metric (mm) and standard (inches).

The tabletop can be configured in various ways using the same construction technique, making it modular and interchangeable. These plans provides guidance on constructing one particular style and size of the table and seat, but the same construction method can be used for any of the seat or table sizes or configurations featured in the content.

To construct the tabletop, rows of battens separated by spacers are held together by a rod that is threaded through the battens and spacers. Washers and nuts are used to secure the rod at each end. The recommended rod size is 1/2" (12mm), although 3/8" (10mm) can also be used.

The project requires three lumber sizes: 2 x 2 inches (50 x 50mm) for the tabletop and seat tops, 2 x 3 inches (50 x 75mm) for the seat frame, and 2 x 4 inches (50 x 100mm) for the table frame. The actual size of the lumber will be less than the nominal size provided, and lumber that is close enough in size can also be used.

The article does not provide a total material list, as there are many options available to the builder. The instructions include numerous drawings, plans, and pictures, as well as some helpful techniques.
